An app that's actually on your side — not the system's

We're building a safety, rights, and health app for women in India. Before we write a single line of code, we want to hear from you — because you know your life better than we do.

3 minutes · no name needed · no email · completely anonymous

The honest reason we're building this

Does any of this sound familiar?

Not statistics. Not news headlines. Just real moments that happen to real women every day.

The "stay quiet" moment at work

Something happened — a comment, a touch, a message. You didn't know if it "counted." You didn't know who to tell. You stayed quiet because the alternative felt worse.

Changing your route because of a feeling

Not a news story, not a police report — just your gut. You've made decisions about where to walk, how to dress, what time to come home, all because of a feeling you've learned not to ignore.

"Will the police even help?"

You or someone you know needed to file a complaint. You hesitated — not because nothing happened, but because you didn't know if they'd register it, or if they'd make it worse.

Keeping evidence with nowhere to put it

Screenshots. A voice note. A photo. You kept them because something felt wrong, but there was nowhere safe to store them — and no idea if they'd ever matter in court.

No one you could tell

Not your family. Not your friends. Because telling them would mean explaining, justifying, managing their reaction. Some things are too heavy to carry alone and too complicated to share.

What Abhaya actually does

Here's exactly what we're building

Not a generic "safety app" with an SOS button that calls police who might not show up. Something that works even when the system doesn't.

🛡️
Emergency guide — what to do in the first 72 hours
If something bad happens, the next 72 hours are critical for evidence. Most people don't know: you can go straight to a hospital (no police needed first), CCTV footage gets deleted after 48 hours if you don't request it. Abhaya walks you through every step, in your language, even without internet.
Works offline · Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali
⚖️
Legal rights AI — ask anything, get real answers
Most women don't know police are legally required to file an FIR, that you can go to a magistrate if they refuse, or that free legal aid is available in every district. You ask in plain language. You get plain language back — not legal jargon. No lawyer needed.
Knows DV Act, POSH, IPC 376 · Generates FIR complaint letters
🔒
Evidence vault — locked storage only you can open
Save screenshots of threatening messages, photos, voice notes. Each file gets a tamper-proof legal timestamp — so even if you submit it to court years later, it proves exactly when it was saved and that it hasn't been altered. Encrypted with a key only you hold.
Legal timestamp · End-to-end encrypted · Can't be deleted remotely
🚨
FIR escalator — when police refuse to help
Refusing to register an FIR is illegal. But most women don't know what to do next. Abhaya generates the exact complaint letter to your district's SP, links to your state's e-FIR portal, and explains how to approach a magistrate. The police count on people not knowing this. Now you will.
District-level SP contacts · e-FIR links · Pre-filled complaint letters
🗺️
Safety map — built from what women actually know
Police crime data is heavily underreported. This map is built from anonymous reports by women who have felt unsafe at specific places — at specific times of day. Over time, it becomes a real picture of what it's actually like to move through your city.
Anonymous pins · Time-of-day filter · Route safety score
💬
Anonymous community — talk without anyone knowing who you are
No names. No photos. No sign-in required. For when you can't tell your family, can't tell your friends, but need to not be alone with what's happening. Moderated by trained volunteers. AI that watches for crisis signals and connects people to real help quietly.
No account needed · Volunteer moderators · AI crisis detection
💼
POSH rights at work — because 47% of women don't know them
The Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act has been law since 2013. Most women don't know what it covers, that there's a 90-day deadline for companies to resolve complaints, or that they can go outside the company if the IC doesn't cooperate. Abhaya explains your rights and helps you document what happened.
Anonymous reporting · IC process guide · 90-day timeline tracker
🩺
Health — period tracker & PCOS info, without the shame
Track your cycle, understand PCOS symptoms, find government schemes for free menstrual products near you. In regional languages. Designed to be shared on WhatsApp without embarrassment. Because 23% of girls drop out of school when they get their period, mostly because nobody explained anything to them.
PCOS symptom tracker · Govt scheme finder · Shareable explainers
A real example

What Abhaya looks like when you actually need it

1
Something happens to you at 11pm
You open Abhaya. No login. No loading screen. The emergency guide opens immediately — because we know you might be shaking. First thing it says: "Go somewhere safe first. Then come back to this."
2
It walks you through what to do right now
Don't shower. Don't change clothes. Go to any hospital — you don't need a police complaint first, the doctor must examine you by law. The app shows you the nearest one and tells you exactly what to say when you get there.
3
You save evidence before it disappears
The vault opens. You import his messages, a photo, your location. Everything gets timestamped and locked. The app reminds you: "CCTV of this area deletes in 48 hours — want to request it now?" One tap generates the request letter.
4
The police refuse to file an FIR
The app says: "This is illegal. Here's exactly what to do." It generates a complaint to your district SP addressed to the right person. It links you to the state e-FIR portal. Suddenly you know more than they're counting on you not knowing.
5
The case drags for months. You don't lose track.
The case tracker pulls your hearing dates automatically. Before each hearing, it tells you what to expect in plain language and connects you to a free legal aid lawyer nearby. When you feel like giving up — the app is still there, still tracking.

What we promise to never do

No ads. No selling your data. No sharing anything with anyone — including police — unless you specifically ask us to. The evidence vault keys live on your device, not our servers. We cannot read them even if we wanted to. This app exists for you, not for anyone who wants information about you.

Now — your honest opinion

9 questions. No right answers. The more honest you are, the better what we build.

Q1
How old are you?
Q2
Where do you live?
Q3
Have you ever felt unsafe and genuinely didn't know what to do or who to call?
Q4
If something bad happened to you today, do you know your legal rights?
Q5
Which features would you genuinely use? Pick only what's real for you.
You can pick more than one — but be honest, not polite.
Q6
What's the most likely reason you wouldn't use something like this?
Q7
How would you prefer to use this?
Q8
Would you share this with someone who needed it?
Q9
Tell us something we're probably getting wrong — or something you wish existed that we haven't mentioned.
This is the most important question. Be as blunt as you want.

No name. No email. No account. Stored anonymously — we can't trace this back to you.

🙏

Thank you — genuinely.

Your response has been saved anonymously. Every honest answer shapes what gets built.
